I had a great time diving! I did two try dives (in one day). It was my second time diving - I did a try-dive about 7 years ago. I have to say that I found the briefing a bit short. It was enough for me, as I remembered a lot from 7 years ago, but I can imagine that new-new divers might need a little more time to process all the information. Perhaps a little more explanation on the steps would be nice too (Like "now we try in the pool, if you feel ready, we will go on the boat"). I felt a little lost in between not knowing what was expected of me or what we were going to do next. The dives themselves were amazing. We dove near Tumbatu and I got down to 12 meters. The reefs are not very colorful, but nevertheless a joy to look at. We saw many (colorful) fish, like the lionfish and eel. I felt very safe with my dive buddy. He showed me some interesting fish & helped me get down (at the first dive I found it hard to swim down) to be closer to the coral. He let me swim quite independant (which I enjoyed), and never lost sight of me. In between te dives we got fruit & water. The sea was quite rough, but that was something that I very much enjoyed on the boat ride (but I can imagine it being hard for people who easily get seasick). Read more

They were happy to dive on our terms, adjusting times and locations to what we wanted, which was something other dive centers we contacted were not willing to do. (However, take into consideration we booked in advance and not the day itself 😉) As experienced divers, my husband and I did a lot of research before choosing a dive center, and we’re so glad we chose them. The boat was great, the equipment was in good condition, and the entire team was incredibly friendly, skilled, and professional. We enjoyed diving with them so much that we ended up booking an extra day. To top it all off, we were lucky enough to see a shark on one of our dives (apparently extremely rare in Zanzibar!) and encountered dolphins on another; truly unforgettable moments. FAQ

You must be at least 10 years old, able to swim, and medically fit for diving. Courses are taught in English and Swahili.

Not at all! We highly recommend the PADI eLearning option, which allows you to complete the digital theory portion of your course at home before you travel. The Open Water theory takes about 5 to 10 hours online. Once you arrive in Zanzibar or Pemba, you can skip the classroom and go straight to the fun part—the in-water training. (Note: A non-refundable $150 USD down payment is required to unlock your eLearning materials).

As a registered Divers Alert Network (DAN) Industry Partner, your safety is our top priority. All our PADI Open Water Diver students receive complimentary student dive cover by DAN Southern Africa for the duration of their entry-level course. For advanced courses and certified fun divers, we strongly recommend purchasing your own dive-specific travel insurance.

All participants must complete a standard PADI Medical Questionnaire prior to any water activities. If you are generally healthy and answer "No" to all the medical history questions, a doctor's note is not required. However, if you answer "Yes" to any specific medical condition, or if you are 60 years of age or older, you must bring a written medical clearance signed by a physician before you can dive.

All our practical in-water instruction, boat briefings, and local guidance are conducted in English and Swahili by our local Zanzibari PADI professionals. However, the digital PADI eLearning materials are available in dozens of different languages, allowing you to comfortably study the theory in your native language before completing the practical skills with us in English.
